PROFILE
Uche is an experienced barrister who inspires confidence and trust in her clientele. She has expertise in a wide spectrum of practice areas and provides excellent advocacy services, legal, strategic and forensic advice in relation to these areas of practice.
Admitted as a solicitor in 2007 and called to the Bar in 2015, Uche has developed a wealth of international experience as a lawyer practicing in private practice and in-house legal departments. Uche’s core areas of practice include employment law, administrative law, immigration law, family law and matters heard in NCAT and the Mental Health Review Tribunal. Her broader practice also extends to commercial law and equity and she accepts briefs from law firms, corporations and in-house legal counsel.
Uche possesses a wide range of unique skills and expertise with respect to contractual disputes, having been instrumental in negotiating multi-billion-dollar contracts while practicing as a solicitor. Her clients value her for her strong commerciality, attention to detail, and high levels of motivation to achieve the best possible results. They benefit from her world of experience and prior exposure to individuals in high levels of office and executive management. The primary jurisdictions in which she appears is the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Federal Court of Australia, Federal Circuit Court and Family Court of Australia, Fair Work Commission and Local Court of New South Wales.
Prior to being called to the Bar, Uche held the positions of Senior Corporate Counsel, Head of Legal, Chief Contracts Negotiator and Legal and Compliance Manager for multiple ICT multi-national companies including Hewlett Packard, Avaya and Salesforce. A component of her work as a lawyer and practice at the Bar has also included commercial advisory work for small businesses. With a true global presence, Uche has previously lived in Paris, New York, Singapore and London and is available to appear as Counsel in international matters.
Uche holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Ecole Superieure de Gestion in Paris, a Masters of Law (with Distinction) from the University of Sydney, a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (English language) from the University of London. Uche serves as a current member of the Diversity and Equality Committee of the New South Wales Bar Association

Core Areas of Practice
01. Administrative Law
Uche is highly experienced and knowledgeable in Administrative Law. She advises and appears in matters requiring judicial review of administrative decision-making particularly in migration & citizenship, NDIS and Child Support matters. She represents clients before courts and administrative tribunals. She has a strong track record of providing strategic advice and representing clients best interest in this area of practice.
02. Employment & Discrimination Law
Uche is usually briefed to advise and appear in employment matters including General Protections, Underpayment of Wages, Unfair Dismissal, Contract of Employment disputes, Executive Severance, Bonus Payments claims, Restrictive Covenants and Workers Compensation matters. Her employment practice extends to advising and representing clients in workplace discrimination matters. Uche has strong analytical skills and extensive workplace relation experience that facilitates strategic resolution of factually complex cases. Her discrimination practice extends to the wider range of protected characteristics. She has advised and represented Claimants, Respondents and Trade Unions in claims involving allegations direct, indirect discrimination, harassment and victimisation..
03. Commercial Contract Advisory & Disputes
Uche has significant expertise in commercial contracts and provides contract advisory services to big corporations and small businesses. She assists her clientele negotiate and draft complex commercial contracts including Partnership and Share agreements, Cloud Computing Contracts, Software Licensing Agreements, Master Services Agreements, Distributor and Reseller Agreements. She has the expertise to draft fit-for-purpose, bespoke customer contracts, tailored to meet customer operating environment and industry requirements.
Uche advises and appears in commercial disputes arising from commercial contracts including disputes arising from building disputes and construction contracts.
04. Family Law and Domestic Violence
Uche has developed a viable family law practice. She appears regularly for either Applicants or Respondents in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. She has appeared for clients in family law matters involving complex parenting disputes including family violence, drugs, mental health issues, relocation, overseas travel and child abduction. She has expertise in property settlement proceedings involving complex business and asset ownership.
Her family law practice extends to appearing and advising on domestic violence matters including ADVO and AVO proceedings in the Local Court. Uche has been on the Legal Aid panel for Domestic Violence since 2016.
05. Mental Health and Guardianship Law
Uche appears regularly before the Mental Health Review Tribunal in a variety of matters including mental health inquiries under the Mental Health Act (NSW) 2007 and the Mental Health (Forensic Provisions) Act 1990, application for Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) treatment orders, application for community treatment orders and appeals.
She also appears in the Guardianship division of NCAT in guardianship matters including application for guardianship, review of guardianship orders and applications for financial management orders.
